Reliable connectivity for modern businesses
Your internet connection is no longer just another utility. It carries your phones, emails, cloud systems, card payments, remote access, security systems, video calls and day-to-day business operations.
SGN Technology Group provides business broadband and connectivity solutions designed around the way your business actually works. Whether you need a cost-effective SoGEA connection, ultrafast FTTP, a dedicated leased line, or a more advanced multi-site SD-WAN solution, we can help you choose the right service.

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC)
FTTC is an entry-level fibre connection that provides a maximum speed of 80mbps download and 20mbps upload. FTTC is widely available across the UK.
Openreach is deploying a faster version of this service called G.FAST that delivers speeds up to 300mbps however availability is very limited.
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
FTTP, or Fibre to the home as it is sometimes referred to, is a fibre product that can provide very fast internet speeds, upto 1Gbps.
The speed of the FTTP service you receive can be tailored so you can balance speed and budget. Get in touch to find out if FTTP is available in your postcode area.
Fibre to the Premises on Demand
FTTPoD is the same service as FTTP. The difference is that FTTPoD is installed in locations where FTTP is not readily available. The infrastructure required will be installed especially for you. Whilst this means you can benefit from great service, you should expect this to cost more upfront.
SoGEA
Single order Generic Ethernet Access is a broadband connection that does not require a traditional telephone line. SoGEA is a dedicated line that delivers broadband but has no dial tone, it's purely data only. Broadband speeds over SoGEA are very much the same as you can expect from FTTC.
Leased Line Connectivity
A leased line, or fibre leased line, is a fibre service that is dedicated to you and your business. Using symmetric service delivery your leased line connection will provide you with 1Gbps speeds in both upload and download. Leased lines are a superior connection the represent the best in internet connectivity.
SD-WAN
For businesses, typically enterprise, that are taking a cloud-centric approach to SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service). SD-WAN improves application performance and reduces cost with transport independence across 4G/5G, MPLS and other connection types.
Which business broadband option is right for you
FTTC — legacy broadband with a limited future
FTTC was once the standard choice for business broadband, but it is now becoming a legacy product. It still uses copper from the street cabinet to your premises, and many FTTC services have historically relied on traditional phone-line infrastructure.
With the analogue PSTN network being switched off by 31 January 2027, businesses should not treat FTTC as a future-proof option. Openreach has also introduced significant 2026 price increases for legacy WLR services, making it increasingly expensive to remain on older copper-based products.
For most businesses, the better route is now SoGEA, FTTP, or a leased line, depending on availability, required speed, resilience, and budget.
Best for: short-term use, backup connectivity, or locations where newer options are not yet available.
SGN recommendation: if you are still using FTTC or a traditional phone line, speak to us before renewing. We can check what is available and help you move to a more future-ready service.

SoGEA — broadband without a phone line
SoGEA is a data-only broadband service that does not require a traditional telephone line. It is a good replacement for older broadband services as the UK moves away from analogue phone lines.
Speeds are similar to FTTC, but the service is ordered and delivered without a separate voice line. For many businesses, this is now the natural upgrade path from older broadband products.
Best for: businesses moving away from legacy phone lines, small offices, backup internet, VoIP-ready setups.
FTTP — ultrafast full fibre broadband
Fibre to the Premises delivers fibre directly into the building, providing a faster and more reliable connection than older copper-based services.
FTTP can support much higher speeds, including services up to 1Gbps where available. It is ideal for businesses using cloud systems, hosted phones, large file transfers, video calls and multiple connected devices.
Best for: growing businesses, cloud software, VoIP, video conferencing, faster uploads and downloads.

FTTP on Demand — full fibre where it is not yet available
FTTP on Demand can bring full fibre connectivity to locations where standard FTTP is not currently available. The required infrastructure is installed specifically for your premises.
This can be a strong option when your business needs full fibre performance but your area has not yet been upgraded. It usually involves higher upfront installation costs, so it is best suited to businesses with a clear need for improved connectivity.
Best for: businesses in areas without FTTP, long-term premises, sites that need fibre but cannot yet access standard full fibre.
Leased Lines — dedicated business-grade connectivity
A leased line gives your business a dedicated fibre connection with symmetrical upload and download speeds. Unlike shared broadband services, the connection is reserved for your business.
This is the strongest option for businesses that rely heavily on internet access, hosted phone systems, cloud platforms, remote workers, large file transfers or critical online services.
Best for: larger offices, critical connectivity, heavy cloud use, high upload demand, businesses that cannot afford downtime.

SD-WAN — smarter connectivity for cloud-first businesses
SD-WAN is designed for businesses that use multiple sites, cloud services, SaaS platforms, remote access and mixed connection types such as broadband, leased lines and 4G/5G.
It can help improve application performance, resilience and control across your network, especially when your business depends on cloud-based systems.
Best for: multi-site businesses, cloud-first organisations, distributed teams, resilience planning, enterprise networks.
